Congratulations to Krissie Ramirez, RN
TRAVEL NURSE OF THE MONTH
Krissie Ramirez is our Featured Travel Nurse of the Month for December 2018. Her permanent state of residence is Arkansas. She is currently on a travel nurse assignment in Memphis, TN
We asked Krissie to share her experience and adventures as a Travel Nurse…
How long have you been traveling?
A little over a year
What has been your favorite city/town to work in?
St Louis, MO. I’ve spent the majority of my time there although I have meet many wonderful people in all three cities that I’ve been too!
Why did you decide to become a Travel Nurse?Â
I chose to become a travel nurse so that I could pay for furthering my education. I traveled and went to school full time for my BSN. I worked 36 hrs a week, I took 15-17 hrs a semester and still made time to drive home (5 hrs each way) every week to tend to my family and other household needs.
I made it work! And travel nursing gave me the opportunity to pay for it without having to go into debt!
What do you love most about being a Travel Nurse?
What I love most about being a travel nurse is the freedom to go wherever I want. I don’t feel stuck to one place. I love meeting new people and exploring new cities! It’s like full time vacationing, on my days off!
Describe your most memorable Travel Nursing Experience.
My most memorable travel experience is going to see my first outdoor play at the Muny at Forest Park in St. Louis, MO.
I watched Annie at an outdoor theater, and it was amazing! The entire play and cast were amazing! The theater was perfect! The weather was amazing! And I couldn’t have asked for a better night! I will take a trip back to see another play at this theater.
What advice do you have for a first-time traveler?
To a first time travel nurses I would say choose a company that has your well-being at the top of the priority list. Travel nursing can be scary and intimidating for first timers, just knowing that you have someone to turn to and they are in your corner if you need them, is comforting!
