She is currently on assignment in Los Angeles, CA.
We asked Samantha to share her experience and adventures as a Travel Nurse…
How long have you been traveling?
I have been traveling for 3 years.
What has been your favorite city to work in?
My favorite city to take an assignment in is Los Angeles.
Why did you choose to become a Travel Nurse?
I became a travel nurse to travel – see different places and learn new hospital systems.
What do you love most about being a Travel Nurse?
I love meeting new people and exploring new cities.
Describe your most memorable Travel Nursing Experience.
My patient had a stroke while waiting for her ride home after being discharged. She lost her ability to speak and function of her right side. I called a code stroke; the medical team evaluated the patient and performed a quick intervention. Upon admission to the ICU she looked over at me, reached for me with her right hand and spoke. I’ll never forget the excitement in her daughter’s face and the tears that began to stream down her husband’s face. This patient was discharged a few days later with minimal deficits.
What advice do you have for a first-time traveler?
Samantha Kaikai, RN
