TRAVEL NURSE OF THE MONTH

RaShalon Scott is our Featured Travel Nurse of the Month for February 2019. She is currently on a travel nurse assignment in New Haven, Connecticut.

We asked RaShalon to share her experience and adventures as a Travel Nurse…

How long have you been traveling? 2 years

What has been your favorite city/town to work in? Lynchburg, VA. It’s crazy because that’s the one place I wasn’t interested in. I met some amazing coworkers, turned friends…more like family. I kept extended my contract and stayed an entire year.

Why did you choose to become a Travel Nurse? I chose travel nursing because I wanted a change in scenery. I felt as though I was too comfortable at my staff job. It was the best decision I made. I’ve actually learned a lot on the road, and I’ve also been able to teach others as well.

What do you love most about being a Travel Nurse?  I love the nervousness and excitement about being in a new place. Travel nursing gives me the opportunity to see new places. Also having a recruiter that I can talk to at anytime helps tremendously. And of course, I love the weekly pay!

Describe your most memorable Travel Nursing Experience. My most memorable experience was when the BEST recruiter ever, Sydney Wells, gifted me tickets to see the Boston Celtics BEAT the Warriors last year. It was the best gift I’ve ever received.

What advice do you have for a first-time traveler? Learn all you can as a staff nurse. You are expected to hit the ground running. Be open to change. You are there to help. Some assignments may be rough…hold your head up, go in and do your job, and those 13 weeks will fly by.
