Wanda is an ICU Registered Nurse and our Featured Travel Nurse for March 2020. Wanda is currently on assignment in Vero Beach, Florida.
We asked Wanda to share her experience and adventures as a Travel Nurse…
I have been traveling for 10 years
I have no favorite, every community has it own beauty. Once I had a staff member ask how I could find all these cool things to do – when she had lived here and did not realize the they existed.
I became a travel nurse because I was ready for adventure.
What I love most about travel nursing is being able to see the country and work at the same time. I consider this life choice as a working vacation.
My most memorable experience in travel nursing is welcoming staff and fellow traveler at a “Teddy Bear” party during a Epic conversation in Ketchikan, Alaska. We had lunch then went out to look for the bears living near the cabin.
My advice is, know yourself. We all start traveling for different reasons. Have a good support system, my first assignment was nearly my last. I fell ill the first week of my assignment., I was alone and one one knew me, I spend 3 days in ICU. Frightening.
