Congratulations to Dawn Dressman, a Med/Surg Stepdown Travel Nurse with Republic Health Resources.
Dawn Dressman is our Featured Travel Nurse of the Month for September 2018. Her permanent state of residence is South Carolina. She is currently on a travel nurse assignment in Phoenix.Â
We asked Dawn to share her experience and adventures as a Travel Nurse…
How long have you been traveling?
1.5 years
What has been your favorite city/town to work in?
Phoenix, I love it so much, I am on my third extension!
Why did you decide to travel?
My story is very common in travel nursing. I was a nurse for 5 years and found that I wasn’t being challenged at work. I also ended a long-term relationship; my lease was up at my apartment and my hometown had become too small for me. So off into the travel world I went.
What do you love most about being a Travel Nurse?
The people I have met along the way. I have been blessed to have amazing friendships across the country. I also love how it has fed my sense of adventure. Each new place I travel to offers endless road trips, yummy new foods and has opened my eyes to how diverse and beautiful this country is.
What advice do you have for a first-time traveler?
As a first-time traveler loneliness can be the hardest thing to deal with. I have found that the best way to deal with this is to stay busy and don’t be afraid to do things on your own. Before travel nursing I was co-dependent on others for my happiness, now I enjoy going to dinner, movies and events by myself.
